Restaurant and food services at Sphinx Airport are mainly concentrated around the Food Hall on the Departures Level and the gate area.
The terminal has international and local chains such as The Edward’s Pizzeria, ChezEdy Burger, Segafredo Café and Grab & Fly. These businesses offer pizza, burgers, coffee and quick snack options.

Is it expensive to eat at Sphinx Airport?
Food prices at Sphinx Airport can generally be higher than in the city centre. As with most airports, food at Sphinx Airport is not very cheap. However, food prices here are close to standard airport prices for the small terminal. Just 500 ml of water costs 49 EGP (≈1.6 USD) and a bread roll costs 120 EGP (≈3.8 USD).
Prices at pizza and burger joints in Departures Hall are 20-30% higher than in the city centre. For example, a small burger menu costs EGP 200 (≈6.5 USD).
Unfortunately, compared to Cairo International Airport (CAI), food prices in restaurants at Sphinx Airport are slightly more expensive.
Where are the restaurants and cafés located?
At Sphinx Airport, all restaurants and cafés are mainly concentrated in the Departures Hall. There are both fixed restaurants in the Food Hall area and small cafes and self-service kiosks along the gateside corridors.
On the Arrivals level, there are no restaurants or cafés offering catering services. Only a currency exchange office and ATMs are available in this area.
What are the opening hours of Sphinx Airport restaurants?
Some cafes and snack bars at Sphinx Airport are open 24 hours a day, especially during peak hours for international flights.
However, most of the restaurants and cafes in the terminal open around 7am. Closing times for restaurants are usually between 7pm and 10pm.
If you have a flight late at night or early in the morning, you should provide your food and beverage needs in advance.
Food at Sphinx Airport VIP Lounge
The Pearl Lounge, which serves as the VIP lounge at Sphinx Airport, offers international passengers a comfortable waiting environment. This lounge area offers a wide range of food services such as hot and cold treats, hors d’oeuvres, desserts and five-tea snacks 24 hours a day.
Airside: Located on the Departing Passenger Level, between Gate 5-8 corridor. Priority Pass members and VIP packages purchased through agencies such as Menzies Meet & Assist & Global Marketing Travel Solution can access this area. The maximum stay in the lounge area is 3 hours.
If you want to learn more about the VIP Lounge, you can read this guide.
Are there shops selling food?
Sphinx Airport does not have a full-fledged ‘supermarket’ concept store. The retail outlets serving in the terminal are mostly focused on duty-free, souvenirs, electronic accessories, books/magazines and food and beverages.
Instead, there are mini-market/convenience type small kiosks and self-service kiosks that can meet the basic needs of passengers. There are vending machines selling water and snacks throughout the terminal.
If you have time in the city before your flight, you can shop at major supermarket chains such as Carrefour, Spinneys or Metro Market in Giza or Cairo.
Food allergies and intolerances
If you have any food allergies or intolerances, inform the service staff of your allergy when ordering at any restaurant at Sphinx Airport.
Food allergies or intolerances can lead to serious reactions on board the aircraft or in an airport restaurant. Remember that your options at the airport are limited.
Study the menu and identify dishes with potential allergens. Ask clear questions such as ‘Does it contain gluten?’, ‘Are nuts, milk or eggs used?’. Carry your own allergen card or note with you.
