Sphinx Airport Car Park Drop-off/Pick-up

Sphinx International Airport offers short-term parking with the first 30 minutes free, located directly in front of the terminal building. The free parking area is located immediately in front of the airport terminal exit gate (Arrivals/Departures), along the apron line. This area has a wide lane suitable for both drop-off/pick-up and waiting purposes. The first 30 minutes of parking are free of charge (0 EGP).

The short-term parking area is located immediately behind the apron security barriers. From here, you can access the terminal immediately.
If the free parking time is exceeded, the subsequent 15 minutes will be charged at approximately 5 EGP (~0.15 USD). The daily maximum fee is approximately 50 EGP (~1.50 USD).

Therefore, for picking up or dropping off passengers or short-term waiting, you can choose the short-term parking area directly in front of the terminal building.

Short-Term Parking

The short-term parking area is located immediately after the terminal exit, behind the apron barrier. This area is approximately 20-30 metres from the terminal building. You can see the ‘Short-Term Parking’ signs on the apron. There is a parking attendant at the main entrance. There is a night security guard on duty. This area has a capacity of approximately 500-700 vehicles. It is arranged in 3 parallel lanes, each lane being wide enough to accommodate approximately 200 vehicles. At the eastern end of the short-term parking area, there are 10 disabled parking spaces.

The first 30 minutes of parking at Sphinx Airport’s short-term parking area are completely free. After this period, an additional fee of 5 EGP (approximately 0.15 USD) is charged for every 15 minutes. The daily maximum fee is fixed at 50 EGP (approximately 1.50 USD). Cash payments in Egyptian Pounds (EGP) are accepted at the time of payment. Some parking booths also offer the option to pay with local bank cards and international credit cards.

This allows you to make quick transactions for drop-offs, pick-ups, and short waits. If you do not need long-term parking, you can keep your vehicle costs to a minimum.

All short-term parking areas are monitored by security cameras. Parking attendants provide free luggage assistance during drop-offs and pick-ups.

Long-Term Parking

The long-term parking area at Sphinx Airport is located 200 metres from the short-term parking area in front of the terminal. This parking area is situated on the west side of the apron. It is designed for trips lasting several days or weeks. This area has a capacity of approximately 1,000–1,200 vehicles. The average daily parking fee is between 40–60 EGP (1.20–1.80 USD).

You can reach the terminal in 5–7 minutes on foot from the long-term parking area. Upon request, staff at the bus station entrance can provide you with a small golf cart to transport your luggage. The parking area is arranged in 4 parallel rows. Each row is designed to accommodate approximately 250–300 vehicles. There are a total of 15 disabled parking spaces in the area closest to the entrance. I have added the exact location on the map; you can check it there.

For 1–3 days of parking, the daily rate is 40–60 EGP (≈1.20–1.80 USD), for 4–7 days the rate is 35–50 EGP (≈1.05–1.50 USD), and for 7 days or more, a flat rate of 30 EGP/day (≈0.90 USD) applies. Charges are calculated based on a full day ending at 00:00 each day. Therefore, any time remaining less than 24 hours is added to the number of days spent in the car park. Payment can be made at the terminals in cash (EGP) or with local bank and international credit cards. There is no advance booking option for the official airport car park. Therefore, you must arrive at the airport before your flight and arrange your parking spot.

Long-term parking areas are monitored by cameras 24 hours a day. Recordings are kept for 30 days. This parking area is economical for vehicle owners travelling for long periods.

Private/Reserved (Off-Site) Car Parking

There are ‘off-site’ (outside the official car park, operated by third-party companies) car parks located a few kilometres from Sphinx Airport. These car parks are ideal for both long-term stays and drivers who want a reservation guarantee during busy periods.

Off-site car parks are approximately 4 km from the Sphinx Airport terminal building. You can also take a free shuttle bus from the car park to the airport. Shuttles run from 05:00 to 24:00. These car parks have a capacity of approximately 1,000 vehicles.

The daily parking fee ranges from 25–35 EGP (0.75–1.05 USD). Weekly packages cost between 150–200 EGP (4.50–6.00 USD). Thanks to online booking, you can secure your parking spot 24 hours in advance with free cancellation through platforms like ParkVia and Looking4Parking.
With the ‘Meet & Greet’ service, you can collect your vehicle directly at the terminal exit. You can avoid the stress of finding a parking spot during busy periods. An additional fee applies for this service. Services such as battery boost, tyre pressure check, and car wash are available at an extra cost. The email sent to you after booking includes minibus times, facility address, and contact information.

Off-site parking options are both more economical and offer the advantage of a reservation guarantee, eliminating the hassle of searching for a parking spot. By making an early reservation through online platforms, you can secure your spot and add extra comfort to your journey.

Sphinx Airport Disabled Passenger Parking Area

The Disabled Passenger Car Park at Sphinx International Airport ensures a safe and comfortable parking experience for disabled passengers with its location closest to the terminal and the amenities it offers. There are a total of 15 spacious parking spaces in designated areas right in front of the terminal exit doors and at the end of the apron. This area is located within short-term parking lanes, so the first 30 minutes are free of charge. After the initial 30 minutes, an additional fee of 2.5 EGP (≈0.08 USD), which is half the standard rate, is applied for every 15-minute increment.

The area is equipped with a ramp and non-slip flooring to allow wheelchair users to get on and off comfortably. Additionally, there is a waiting point for disabled passengers in the security booth located right next to the parking area. Staff members are available to assist with luggage and mobility equipment. All disabled parking spaces are marked with extended lanes. These areas are protected by adjustable barriers to prevent normal vehicles from occupying them.

For security purposes, the disabled parking area is monitored by CCTV cameras 24/7. Payment points are located right next to the car park gates. Disabled passengers can reach the gates with minimal walking distance.

To further facilitate access from the car park to the terminal for disabled passengers, small electric golf carts are available free of charge upon request. These vehicles operate at regular intervals between 05:00 and 23:00 in the parking area. This allows passengers travelling with luggage or assistive devices to comfortably reach the terminal from the parking area.

Sphinx Airport VIP Parking

There is no designated ‘VIP car park’ within the terminal building at Sphinx Airport. The airport’s official parking regulations only specify short-term, long-term, and disabled passenger car parks. There is currently no separate ‘VIP’ parking section for valet or luxury segment vehicles at the airport.

However, some of the off-site (off-premises) car park operators closest to the airport offer an extra VIP experience in the form of a ‘meet & greet’ service, which involves meeting you at the terminal door, parking your car and returning it to you at the terminal exit. This service is usually booked through platforms such as ParkVia or Looking4Parking. An additional fee of 20–30 EGP (≈0.60–0.90 USD) is charged on top of the parking fee.

Welcome Pickups

If you are looking for true ‘VIP parking’ comfort, check out Welcome pickup’s facilities around Sphinx Airport, filter for the ‘meet & greet’ option, and secure your parking spot with a prepayment. Be sure to save the detailed service time, minibus departure point, and contact number provided in the reservation confirmation email. This will allow you to pick up your vehicle closer to the VIP entrance at the terminal and avoid the hassle of searching for a parking spot.

Payment and  some tips from my experience

At Sphinx Airport, payments for both short-term (in front of the terminal) and long-term parking (west of the apron) can be made at cash desks that accept cash (Egyptian Pound) and cards. The electronic barriers at the payment points automatically read the fee information, allowing you to exit the parking area quickly. Additionally, you can book off-site facilities with lower rates in advance through ParkVia or Looking4Parking to lock in the price and enjoy additional services such as minibus transfers.

Cash (EGP): All parking cashier desks accept payment in Egyptian Pounds only. Change machines and banknote dispensers are available at the desks.
Credit/Debit Card: Visa, Mastercard, and local bank cards are accepted at some main ticket offices. Card readers operate via an SSL-encrypted connection.
Automatic Passage: When using a QR code reservation or entry ticket, you will be directed to the exit area. You can leave the car park without waiting at the ticket office.
Online Pre-Payment: You can book off-site parking through platforms such as ParkVia and Looking4Parking to get the lowest price. At the terminal, you can go directly to the parking area by minibus without waiting in the ticket office queue.
Save your ticket: For short-term parking, keep your entry ticket or QR code handy for quick scanning at exit. Staff at the counter will automatically process payment by scanning the barcode.
Peak Period Planning: Ticket offices may be busy during public holidays and the summer season. In such cases, you will be directed to the long-term parking area on the west side of the car park. Arrival (06:00–08:00) and departure (21:00–23:00) times are quieter.
Full-Day Charge: Even if you stay one day less than the full duration, the full-day fee will be charged.
