Sphinx Airport Passenger Services

Below are the main services that Sphinx Airport offers to passengers. These include a lost and found bureau, banking and currency exchange, luggage storage facilities, VIP lounges and meeting rooms, tourist information, first aid facilities, a mosque and more.

Children’s Playgrounds

There are children’s playgrounds on the departure level. There are also more facilities for children in the lounge area at the airport. offers small play areas and baby changing units

Mosque

There is a prayer area inside the terminal, which is open to everyone. There is also a place of worship in the VIP Lounge area.

Sphinx Airport Currency Exchange

At Sphinx Airport, there are currency exchange offices in the arrivals and departures sections inside the terminal. There is a currency exchange office right next to the exit gate of the Arrivals section, opposite the visa desks.

In the Departures section, after the X-ray control, there is a currency exchange office adjacent to the duty-free area. The National Bank of Egypt and Banque du Caire kiosks accept cash (USD) and exchange currency for visa payments. Opening hours are limited. They are usually open from 07:30 to 23:30.

Common currencies accepted are the US Dollar (USD), Euro (EUR), Pound Sterling (GBP), Saudi Riyal (SAR) and Swiss Franc (CHF). In addition, currencies such as the Australian Dollar (AUD), Canadian Dollar (CAD) and Japanese Yen (JPY) are exchanged in limited amounts.

Exchange rates are determined by applying a 1-2% spread over the wholesale rates of the Central Bank of Egypt. There is no fixed commission fee at the currency bureaus in the terminal. You must make a transaction of at least USD 50 or equivalent.

Sphinx Airport Banks and ATM

The banking section of Sphinx Airport is located in the arrivals hall, right next to the visa sales point. Here you can quickly buy and sell Egyptian pounds and major foreign currencies before or after your flight.

National Bank of Egypt (NBE) kiosk: Located right next to the visa sales point on the arrival floor, this is one of the authorised points where you can purchase entry visas of 25 USD in cash.

Banque du Caire kiosk: Located in the same area, next to the National Bank of Egypt, this kiosk offers banking services limited to visa transactions.

Before passing through passport control, there are three separate ATM areas just to the left of the bank kiosks. In addition to Visa and MasterCard, many international cards can be used at these ATMs.

 

Fast Track at Sphinx Airport

The Fast Track service offered at Sphinx Airport ensures that passengers receive priority treatment at all stages from check-in to security and passport control.

Internet and Wi-Fi

Free WiFi is available at Sphinx Airport, offering unlimited broadband connectivity for laptops, phones or PDAs. In the terminal, there are ‘Charging Stations’ equipped with USB and socket outlets in the arrivals and departures halls.

Lost Baggage

If your baggage is lost during your flight, you can contact your airline’s Lost Baggage Office. Airlines such as Air Cairo, Jazeera Airways, Wizz Air offer ‘Lost & Found’ service at the ticket / transaction desks inside the terminal. These offices are usually in the check-in area. Lost Property Sphinx Airport

In the terminal area at Sphinx Airport, a ‘Lost Property’ desk is at your service for the reporting and delivery of lost property. There are airport information desks on the arrival floor where you collect your luggage. The information desks are located in Terminal 1 Arrivals Hall, right at the exit of the baggage claim belt, near the customs and security checkpoint.

Baggage Wrapping Service

Sphinx Airport has an area where you can have your baggage wrapped in cling film for extra security during your flight. The baggage wrapping service is on the arrivals floor.

Breastfeeding Room at Sphinx Airport

The breastfeeding room at Sphinx Airport is in the VIP Lounge area. The lounge area is in Departures section.

Passengers with reduced mobility

The airport offers various services for passengers with reduced mobility upon request, including disabled parking spaces and wheelchair assistance. At the boarding gates, there are ramps and lift platforms for disabled passengers to pass through comfortably.

 

Police Sphinx Airport

There are police units on duty 24/7 at the security points at the terminal entrance. Police officers ensure passenger safety in both internal and external areas. You can contact these units directly for emergency and security notifications.

 

VIP Lounges Sphinx Airport

Lounge area at Sphinx Airport, Terminal 1 Departures gates 5-8.

Services: Quiet relaxation area, children’s play corner, separate prayer room, games room, smoking zone, complimentary snacks & beverages, Wi-Fi, TV, flight information screens.

Tourist Information Desk

Information Desk: In Terminal 1, on the Arrivals level, there is a 24-hour ‘Information’ desk. Here you can find information about city maps, transport timetables, tour packages and hotel reservations.

First Aid

There is a small clinic and first aid station close to the arrivals section of Sphinx Airport.
